Your Privacy Matters

Simple Macro is designed with your privacy in mind. Your nutrition data stays on your device and is never sent to external servers for analytics or advertising purposes.

Data Storage

All meal logs, foods, and preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.

If you purchase Simple Macro Pro and enable iCloud Sync, your data is stored in your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. This data is only accessible to you through your Apple ID. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

Apple Health

If you enable Apple Health integration, Simple Macro writes nutrition data (calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, and water) to the Health app on your device. Simple Macro does not read data from Apple Health.

You can disable this at any time in Settings or revoke access through the Health app.

Barcode Scanning

When you scan a product barcode, the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org) to retrieve nutrition information. No personal data or device identifiers are included in these requests.

Open Food Facts is a free, open-source, community-driven food database. Their privacy policy is available at openfoodfacts.org/privacy.

AI Nutrition Label Scanning

When you use the nutrition label scanning feature (available to Pro subscribers), Simple Macro photographs the nutrition label and sends the image to a cloud service for analysis. Here is exactly what happens:

• The photo is resized and compressed on your device before being sent.
• The image is sent to our secure cloud service, which uses AI to extract the nutrition values (calories, fat, protein, carbs, etc.). The image is immediately discarded after processing. No photos are stored on any server.
• A randomly generated device identifier is sent alongside the request solely for rate limiting. This identifier is not linked to your Apple ID, name, or any personal information.
• No other data from your device is included in the request — no location, contacts, health data, or usage history.

You must give explicit consent before using this feature. You can revoke consent at any time in Settings > AI Features, which prevents any further images from being sent.

On-Device AI

Simple Macro uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models to generate nutrition insights. All AI processing happens entirely on your device. No nutrition data is sent to any server for AI analysis.

Data We Do Not Collect

• No personal information (name, email, phone number)
• No usage analytics or tracking
• No advertising identifiers
• No location data
• No personal information shared with third parties (nutrition label photos sent for cloud AI scanning are processed and immediately discarded — see "AI Nutrition Label Scanning" above)

In-App Purchases

Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store any payment information.

Deleting Your Data

You can delete all app data at any time by going to Settings, then "Data Management," and tapping "Reset All Data." If iCloud Sync is enabled, this also removes data from iCloud.

You can also delete the app, which removes all locally stored data.
